To qualify for licensure, all the above must be submitted to Via Vita. The state now requires the school to verify, by a notarized statement, that all the above have been submitted.

Policy for Active Alaska Apprentices:
(Effective 12/01/2011)

Coursework is generally self-paced and can be submitted out of order prior to active clinical apprenticeship. Many student midwives begin their studies one or more years prior to the active apprenticeship. Once the student midwife holds an Apprentice Permit, and plans to submit the application for licensure to the State of Alaska, modules must be completed in order, with quizzes completed and submitted before the first exam can be issued.

The final exam must be completed a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the date the licensing application is submitted to the licensing examiner. Failure to submit the coursework and exams in this time-frame may result in the student being denied to sit the licensing exam.*
